This Privacy Policy explains how Travel collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal data when you use the Travel iOS app, website, and related services (together, the “Service”).
Travel is operated by Stepan Gritsun as an individual. Travel is not currently operated by a registered company.
By using Travel, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Who We Are
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the data controller is:

2. Minimum Age
Travel is intended for users aged 13 or older, unless a higher minimum age applies in your country.
If you are under 18, you may only use Travel with permission from a parent or legal guardian. This is especially important because Travel may include location sharing, background location, trip sharing, and social features.
Travel does not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable minimum age. If we become aware that such data has been collected, we will delete it as soon as reasonably possible.
3. Personal Data We Collect
The personal data we collect depends on how you use Travel, which features you enable, and which permissions you grant.
3.1. Account and Profile Data
We may collect:
name;
email address;
phone number, if you choose to provide it;
profile photo, if you choose to provide it;
login and authentication information;
account identifiers from Apple, Google, Auth0, or email/password login.
3.2. Location Data
Travel may collect and process location data when you grant permission through iOS. This may include:
precise location while using the app;
background location, if enabled;
approximate location;
trip-related location context;
location data used for live sharing, trip tracking, local transport, nearby places, alerts, and route-related features.
Background location may be used to support real-time journey tracking, live trip status, relevant notifications, and location sharing with friends when you enable those features.
You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in your iOS device settings. Some features may stop working or become less accurate if location access is disabled.
3.3. Trip, Itinerary, and Ticket Data
We may collect:
trips you create or import;
origins, destinations, routes, stops, dates, and times;
transport modes;
itinerary details;
booking references;
ticket references or ticket-related information you add, store, or open in Travel;
travel alerts, transport status, and trip metadata.
Travel does not currently sell transport tickets directly.
3.4. Friends, Contacts, and Sharing Data
If you use friend, contact, or sharing features, we may collect and process:
your Travel friends;
friend requests and invitations;
shared trip status;
shared live location, when enabled;
privacy and visibility settings;
information that other users share with you or about shared trips.
You control whether to share your location or trip status. You should only share location or travel information with people you trust.
3.5. User-Generated Content
You may submit content to Travel, including:
delay reports;
incident reports;
transport reports;
safety reports;
comments, descriptions, or notes;
support messages;
feedback.
You should not submit false, misleading, illegal, abusive, defamatory, private, or sensitive information about other people.
3.6. Device, Technical, and Notification Data
We may collect:
device model;
operating system version;
app version;
language and region;
device identifiers used for app functionality, analytics, or debugging;
push notification tokens;
notification preferences;
IP address;
diagnostic and log data.
3.7. Analytics, Crash, and Support Data
We may collect analytics, crash, and debugging data to improve the app, fix problems, understand performance, and provide support. This may include:
app usage events;
crash logs;
bug reports;
device diagnostics;
interaction data related to errors or support requests;
feedback submitted through support tools.
3.8. Payment and Subscription Data
Travel does not currently charge users for subscriptions or in-app purchases.
If Travel introduces subscriptions or paid features, payments may be handled through Apple StoreKit, the App Store, and RevenueCat. In that case, Travel may receive purchase status, subscription status, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, renewal status, and similar billing metadata.
Travel does not collect full payment card numbers.
4. How We Collect Personal Data
We collect personal data from:
you, when you create an account, add trips, change settings, submit reports, or contact us;
your device, when you use the app and grant permissions;
authentication providers such as Apple, Google, and Auth0;
third-party services used to provide maps, transport data, weather, places, analytics, payments, AI, messaging, support, and app infrastructure;
other Travel users, when they invite you, connect with you, share trips, or share location with you.
5. How We Use Personal Data
We use personal data to:
provide, operate, and improve Travel;
create and manage user accounts;
authenticate users;
show trips, itineraries, alerts, and travel-related information;
enable background tracking and live trip status where enabled;
enable location sharing and friend features where enabled;
display transport, weather, maps, local, and place-related information;
send push notifications and service updates;
process user reports and feedback;
detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, security issues, or technical problems;
debug crashes and improve reliability;
provide customer support;
develop new features;
comply with legal obligations;
protect the rights, safety, and property of users, Travel, and others.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases.
6.1. Performance of a Contract
We process data when necessary to provide Travel and its features, including accounts, trips, app functionality, and support.
6.2. Consent
We rely on consent for certain features, such as precise location access, background location, push notifications, and optional profile information where required by law.
You can withdraw consent through app settings, iOS settings, or by contacting us.
6.3. Legitimate Interests
We may process data for legitimate interests, including improving Travel, maintaining security, preventing abuse, debugging crashes, measuring app performance, and understanding feature usage.
6.4. Legal Obligations
We may process data when necessary to comply with applicable laws, legal requests, tax requirements, consumer protection rules, or regulatory obligations.
7. Location and Background Tracking
Travel may use background location if you enable it. This is used to support features such as:
real-time trip tracking;
live journey status;
delay and disruption alerts;
route-related notifications;
friend and location sharing;
transport context based on your journey.
Background location can affect battery life. You can disable background location at any time in iOS settings. If disabled, some real-time tracking and sharing features may not work properly.
Travel does not require you to share your live location with friends. Sharing features are controlled by your settings and permissions.
8. AI Features
Travel may use AI features to provide travel-related recommendations, predictions, summaries, notifications, explanations, and contextual information.
Travel currently uses or may use the following AI providers:
OpenAI;
Perplexity.
AI processing may involve sending relevant travel context, user queries, trip details, transport information, place information, or app-generated context to these providers. Travel aims to limit the data sent to what is reasonably necessary for the feature.
You should not submit highly sensitive personal information through AI-powered features unless it is necessary.
AI-generated information may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading. You should verify important travel, safety, ticketing, timing, or transport information with official sources.
9. Third-Party Services
Travel uses third-party providers to operate and improve the Service. These providers may process personal data on our behalf or as independent controllers, depending on the service.
Travel currently uses or may use:
Auth0 for authentication;
Convex for backend infrastructure and data storage;
Resend for email;
Apple MapKit for maps;
Apple WeatherKit for weather data;
Sign in with Apple for authentication;
Google login through Auth0;
Apple Push Notification service for push notifications;
Apple StoreKit for in-app purchases or subscriptions if introduced;
RevenueCat for subscription management if paid features are introduced;
Sentry for crash reporting and monitoring;
Shake for bug reporting and feedback;
OpenAI for AI features;
Perplexity Sonar for AI/search features;
Foursquare for places and local information;
Wikipedia and Wikimedia APIs for public information;
FGC and TMB for transport-related information.
Third-party services may have their own privacy policies and data processing practices.
10. Data Storage and International Transfers
Travel stores app data using Convex infrastructure in the European Union.
Some third-party providers may process data outside the European Union or European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections, standard contractual clauses, or other mechanisms recognized by applicable law.
11. How We Share Personal Data
We may share personal data:
with service providers that help operate Travel;
with authentication providers when you log in;
with infrastructure, analytics, crash reporting, support, notification, AI, maps, weather, transport, and places providers;
with other users when you choose to share trips, status, reports, or location;
when necessary to comply with the law;
to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Travel, or others;
in connection with a future business transfer, merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or registration of a company operating Travel.
We do not sell personal data.
12. User Reports and Shared Content
Some reports or content you submit may be visible to other users if they are intended to improve travel information, disruption awareness, or safety context.
Travel may moderate, edit, remove, or restrict user-generated content that appears false, harmful, illegal, abusive, privacy-invasive, or otherwise inappropriate.
Do not submit personal data about other people unless you have the right to do so.
13. Data Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to provide Travel, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
When you delete your account, Travel will delete or anonymize active account data from its own systems as soon as reasonably possible.
Some data may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, security records, analytics systems, crash reports, or third-party provider systems. Some third-party providers may retain data for 30 days or longer according to their own policies, legal obligations, or technical processes.
We may retain anonymized or aggregated data that no longer identifies you.
14. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
access your personal data;
correct inaccurate data;
delete your data;
restrict processing;
object to processing;
withdraw consent;
request data portability;
lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

15. Your Choices and Controls
You can control many types of data processing through:
Travel app settings;
iOS location settings;

iOS background app refresh settings;
account deletion tools, where available;

Disabling certain permissions may limit app functionality.
16. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no app, network, or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for protecting access to your device.
17. Accuracy of Travel Information
Travel may display transport, location, weather, route, ticket, delay, disruption, safety, and AI-generated information. This information may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete, or unavailable.
You should verify critical travel information with official transport operators, ticket providers, airports, stations, government agencies, or other authoritative sources.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If changes are material, we may notify you through the app, website, email, or another appropriate method.
The updated Privacy Policy will be effective when posted, unless stated otherwise.
